Skiddaw House is a small independent hostel right on the Cumbria Way. Break up the stage between Keswick and Caldbeck and spend a night in the mountains, away from towns, villages and roads. Alternatively, walk here from Borrowdale, or use the hostel as a base to reach the summit of Skiddaw. Please note that anyone using baggage carriers will need to have their main baggage transported to their next destination as Skiddaw House has no road access.

The hostel has four bedrooms, a cosy lounge and a sociable dining/kitchen common room. The downstairs is heated by wood and coal stoves, but the bedrooms are unheated and electricity is limited as we are totally off-grid. Full bedding is provided, towels can be hired and there is a hot shower. Meals are available  – Breakfast, Packed Lunch and Evening Meals on a Do It Yourself basis, buying simple ingredients from a small shop on site.  There is a bar serving local ales, wine, whisky and soft drinks.

Caldbeck Camping is directly on the route, the Cumbrian Way walks right through our campsite. Caldbeck has 2 cafes a village store and a pub all within 2 minutes walk of us.

Newly renovated Grade 2 listed barns and bothy located in the village centre of Caldbeck and directly opposite the village pub and providing accommodation for walkers & cyclists.
High Pike barn sleeps 8, and costs £208 per night. Carrock Fell sleeps 5 and costs £105 per night (all on single beds in an open plan bedroom for both barns) and The Bothy sleeps 3 and costs £90 per night (1 double & 1 single) The Bothy has its own Finnish sauna exclusive to guests who book it. The perfect way to unwind after a long walk on the fells. We have lovely grounds for barbecues and a fire pit also.

We can accommodate guests with their own tent, but this would need to be pre-arranged. Guests are welcome to bring dogs.

Each barn is completely self contained, with kitchen facilities, toilets & shower and woodburners. There is also WiFi available. We provide towels and pillows & cases. Made up beds are £10 per person, so you can bring your own sleeping bags if you wish. We look forward to greeting you at Caldbeck Glamping Barns & Bothy.
